Meet The Wearer
My story
I’m Rachel. As a self-confessed jewellery junkie I launched my Islington boutique and online shop after a decade working as a jewellery buyer for leading high street stores. My ethos is all about sourcing what I call “jewellery with personality” – innovative, under the radar labels that offer something different to what’s widely available – and championing the independent designers and creative brains behind them.
From fresh and minimal to bold statement pieces, The Wearer showcases a range of contemporary jewellery brands which bridge the gap between costume and fine jewellery
What started out as childhood trip to the V&A jewellery archive evolved into adulthood as a passion for innovative and exciting jewellery design.
My passion turned into my career and as a Jewellery and Accessories Buyer for high street brands I had the opportunity to do what I loved! Despite this I still struggled to find a jewellery destination where I could indulge my own tastes. I searched for a bolder aesthetic that would reflect unique personalities and senses of style and so The Wearer was born.
The Wearer is a curated collection of some of the best independent London and UK jewellery brands; cutting edge fashion jewellery from the innovators and influencers.
My Philosophy
We love to support local designers and small producers who have ethics at their core.
We believe that the right jewellery has the power to transform the look and feel of your entire outfit and is an expression of your individuality, character or mood.
At The Wearer we also understand that your choice of jewellery isn’t just based on aesthetics any more. Our customers want to trust that they are investing in
The fast fashion culture of repeatedly purchasing poorly made fashion jewellery is vanishing and we want to help you navigate a new way of buying jewellery.
Our selection is created by local artisans or small producers with transparent production methods, using ethically sourced stones, conflict free diamonds and recycled components. They are made by hand to last and love, to hand down and pass on. Not to end up as landfill.
The majority of the jewellery we sell is hand made by designers right here in London and our focus is keeping our carbon footprint to a minimum. However, we do collaborate with designers who work with small producers internationally in order to offer you a mix of affordability and creativity.
We are committed to becoming more sustainable as a small business. For our best practices action plan please check here.
